Poetry Break

Inspiration
by Sarah Hall

If words fell from lips as
Petals from a rose
To bless below
Cherry red elegance

To think of words to fill a page
My mind goes awry
Inspiration - where are you?
Lurking just around the...
Wait - I think I saw you
Or was it only a fleeting glance

If only words fell from lips as petals from a rose
Softly caressing that below with colors of
love, passion, friendship...purity
Elegance clutches beauty
As fragile as the sweet, sweet fragrance that
Warns of silent decent
Scattered about they lay
Innocent

Or leapt as though from stone to pebble
Droplets, dashing here, there
Laughing, a splash
Cleanse, refresh, giddy chatter
Hopelessly warns of reinforcements

If only they danced about
twirling, as music on the wind, first tip-toeing
Then tapping
Nimble and dainty, mad and obnoxious
Tossed and turned into symphony
